'Billy Childish: Frozen Estuary and Other Paintings of the Divine Ordinary' at Chatham Dockyard
'As a young man Childish spent six months working as an apprentice Stonemason in Chatham’s Dockyard, and in 2011 he returned to the Dockyard as its first official Artist in Residence. The culmination of this residency is shown at the Dockyard’s gallery, whilst other work made during this period will be sent around the world and shown in solo exhibitions in London, Seoul, Berlin and then Los Angeles.’
At the exhibition you are able to buy a catalogue featuring the paintings from the exhibition along with a series of photographs I took whilst Billy was painting in his Dockyard studio (the installation shot above is mine too).
The exhibition in Chatham is on until the 30 September 2012
